Abiding in the deep inner peace of this emptiness, there are no disturbing thoughts, no pain, no worry, no anger, no conflict, and no fear. A sense of happiness and well-being naturally arise from within.

During this weekend retreat, we will enjoy powerful meditations on Mahamudra Tantra. This is deeply relaxing and empowering. Through these powerful mediations, we gain insight into the flexible and limitless nature of our own mind. This in turn helps us to understand, through our own experience, how to actualize our potential for lasting happiness and freedom.

By accessing the pure, clear nature of our mind, we gain the freedom to respond to our daily life in the most constructive possible manner.

This retreat will be guided by Gen Kelsang Chokyan, Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center New Mexico. It will be taking place at the International Kadampa Retreat Center (IKRC) Grand Canyon.


While you are enjoying inspiring teachings and meditations in the very blessed Kadampa Temple, you will also enjoy a relaxing get-away in the quiet and natural environment of the Kaibab National Forest.


The retreat center has very comfortable hotel-style rooms and a large dining room with three delicious vegetarian meals served daily. There will be plenty of time in-between sessions for relaxing, reading, and quiet walks in the woods. This special weekend retreat is the most meaningful way to unwind and restore.

About the Teacher

Gen Kelsang Chokyan is a Kadampa Buddhist monk and the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center New Mexico. He has been practicing meditation and modern Buddhism for 18 years and teaches with warmth and enthusiasm, showing us how to find peace and happiness in our daily life.
