Mountain Retreat 2022

Updated: Mar 16

Hello, and welcome to our Mountain Retreat 2022 blog!

We would like to begin by thanking the 350 people from 16 different

countries who participated in this year’s Mountain Retreat. Through the

inspiring blessings of our kind Spiritual Guide, Venerable Geshe-la, and the

joyful effort of Kadampas around the world, the Mountain Retreat at IKRC Grand Canyon continues to grow and increase in its beneficial power.

While we are deeply rejoicing in the success of this year’s retreat, we are already looking forward to the Mountain Retreat 2022.

The purpose of this blog is to keep you informed about the progress of our planning; and to give some encouragement and advice for those planning to attend next year’s

retreat, either in-person or online.

What is the subject of next year’s Mountain Retreat?

Gen-la Jampa said, “This means that we will be engaging in the daily heart practices of fortunate modern Kadampa disciples. How wonderful!”

Everyone is welcome!

A summary of each week is as follows:

January 1, 2022 begins with Je Tsongkhapa empowerment, including the transmission of the Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka mantra.

Week 1 includes commentary and meditations on Heart Jewel sadhana, both

Je Tsongkhapa & Dorje Shugden prayers.

Week 2 emphasizes engaging in the different Migstema request prayers from Heart Jewel book.

Week 3 emphasizes engaging in Lamrim meditations using Heart Jewel prayers with meditations from Part 1 of Modern Buddhism.

Week 4 includes commentary and meditations on Yoga of Buddha Heruka sadhana from Part 2 of Modern Buddhism.

Week 5 emphasizes training in tranquil abiding on generation stage of Heruka body mandala using the Yoga of Buddha Heruka sadhana.

Week 6 emphasizes training in tranquil abiding on completion stage using the Yoga of Buddha Heruka sadhana.

This retreat will be guided by Gen-la Kelsang Jampa, the Resident Teacher and Deputy Spiritual Director of the NKT.

As a senior NKT teacher, Gen-la Jampa has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for many years, and under Geshe-la's guidance has taught at many centers and events around the world.

Gen-la is well-loved for his clear and inspiring teachings and his ability to touch people’s hearts through his sincerity and loving-kindness.
