International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon and  Kadampa Temple for World Peace is home to a thriving Sangha community, dedicated to the flourishing of Buddhadharma  locally in Northern Arizona and the Western United States  as well as nationally and internationally by hosting and supporting special retreats, teaching events and daily visiting hours.

 

IKRC Grand Canyon is located in Northern Arizona among towering Ponderosa Pines of the Kaibab National Forest,  just 45 minutes from the Grand Canyon National Park, 10 minutes from Williams, and 25 minutes from Flagstaff. Established on the Mogollon Plateau at an elevation of 7000 feet with stunning views of the San Francisco Peaks, the IKRC Grand Canyon offers residents, volunteers and guests worldwide the opportunity to experience Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s profound blessings manifest as this precious Dharma Center, World Peace Temple, and Bodhisattva community.

 

Currently there is an opportunity to make a special contribution to IKRC Grand Canyon as a Sponsored Worker. We have four positions available to help with the day to day running of the IKRC Grand Canyon.

 

Kitchen Coordinator - coordinates kitchen operations including cooking, menu-planning, purchasing, rotas, and volunteers

 

Housekeeper and Volunteer Coordinator  - coordinates housekeeping duties including guest room cleaning and preparation, laundry; process volunteer applications, coordinates arrivals and job assignments.

 

Maintenance - in charge of facilities management, including day to day building maintenance, as well as center building projects, liaising with contractors; also coordinates volunteers assigned to maintenance jobs

Grounds Keeping - maintains the plants and landscapes, irrigation systems,erosion control, planting, fire prevention, snow removal; works closely with volunteers assigned to groundskeeping jobs.

 

Personal Qualities:

• Able to prioritize and carry out tasks independently.

• Shows initiative and takes personal responsibility for completing tasks.

• Adopts a positive attitude and a willingness to assist others.

• Needs to be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of volunteers while maintaining professional expectations.

 

In exchange for Sponsored Workers receive:

• A monthly stipend of $250.00

• Meals

• Free accommodation in the IKRC Grand Canyon’s residential property,including ensuite bathroom,utilities and internet.

• Free classes and courses at the Center

• 4 weeks paid holiday, plus US Federal Holidays
